Rema and Asake Featured on Barack Obama’s 2024 Favorite Music List
Nigerian music stars Rema and Asake have gained international acclaim by being featured on former U.S. President Barack Obama’s 2024 playlist of favorite songs.
Obama, known for his annual tradition of sharing his top tracks, unveiled the list on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter). Among the highlighted songs were Rema’s “Yayo” and Asake’s “Active,” featuring American rapper Travis Scott.
South African artist Tyla also made the list with her hit “Jump,” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng. Nigerian-American artists Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji were recognized for their tracks “A Bar Song” and “Kehlani,” respectively.
Global icons like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G also featured, showcasing a diverse blend of music from around the world.
Sharing his selections, Obama wrote:
“Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist – and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.”
