I Don’t Support Beating Kids; My Son Destroys the TV When Angry – Bovi (Video)
Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has opened up about his parenting style, revealing how his son, Chuchu, once went through a phase of breaking televisions when upset.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast with Nedu, Bovi explained that he does not advocate for physically disciplining children. Instead, he prefers allowing them to learn from their actions.
He recounted how Chuchu used to throw objects and smash TVs out of anger but eventually grew to understand the consequences and showed remorse for his behavior.
Bovi stated:
“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. My son Chuchu used to break televisions for the fun of it. If he got upset, he’d throw things and break the TV. But as he grew, he started to feel remorseful. He broke three TVs, and thank God I could afford replacements. If I couldn’t, my approach might have been different.”
While Bovi’s remarks highlight his non-violent approach to discipline, they sparked mixed reactions online. Some Nigerians criticized him for tolerating destructive behavior, arguing it could hinder his son’s emotional control.
