Kuwait Arrests Nigerian Gang for Armed Robbery at Currency Exchange
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has apprehended two Nigerian nationals involved in a daring armed robbery at a currency exchange office in the Al-Mahboula area. The suspects stole foreign currencies worth KD 4,600 (approximately USD 16,500) in the incident.
In a press release on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Ministry disclosed that the robbery was carefully planned. The gang had monitored the exchange office from nearby rooftops and used metal plates to obscure their vehicle’s license plates during the crime.
Investigators tracked down one of the suspects, who confessed to surveilling the office and tipping off his accomplice. The second suspect was apprehended in the Aswaq Al-Qurain area.
A search of the suspects’ residence uncovered the stolen money and a bag of methamphetamine.
The Ministry confirmed that both suspects have been handed over to public prosecution authorities for legal proceedings.
