“We’re Lacking Enough Players” – Guardiola
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola defended his team’s performance following a defeat to Brighton, citing significant injuries and player absences as key factors in the loss. Guardiola noted that this marked their fourth consecutive defeat and pointed out the challenges they are currently facing.
“We don’t have the players. All four of our central defenders are injured,” he explained. Guardiola also mentioned other key players missing or not at their peak, such as Rodri, whom he described as their best player, as well as Kevin De Bruyne, who is not in top form. He highlighted further injuries to Doku and Jack Grealish.
While Guardiola praised the team’s effort, stating, “We played really good,” he acknowledged that maintaining consistency has become difficult without a full squad. He stressed that while the team can manage to perform well in individual games, sustaining that level over a period is challenging due to their current squad limitations.
“We had the squad to do it in previous seasons, but now we don’t. We have to survive and live with that,” Guardiola concluded.
