Ballon d’Or to return in November with nominees for the prestigious award to be announced on October 8
The prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony will return in November, it has been confirmed.
Last year the ceremony was scrapped entirely, due to the coronavirus pandemic. But it has now been announced that the Ballon d’Or will once again be contested in November live from the Chatelet Theatre in Paristo to crown the world’s most highly rated footballer.
Nominees for the award will be announced on October 8 by France Football, the organisers of the award ceremony.
Prior to the axing of the award last year, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was the clear winner ahead of the regular rivals Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Polish striker, who recently scoop the alternative UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award, will be expected to be in the running for the Ballon d’Or this year upon its return.
