Arsenal’s Calafiori Withdraws from Italy Squad After Knee Injury
Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori has been forced to leave the national team camp after sustaining a knee injury during Italy’s 2-1 defeat to Germany on Thursday.
Italy’s medical staff suspects a collateral ligament injury graded between one and two, though further evaluation will be conducted by Arsenal’s medical team.
Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on Friday via X, raising concerns about Calafiori’s availability for upcoming matches.
“Riccardo Calafiori leaves Italy camp with immediate effect after knee injury suffered yesterday. Italy staff suggest Calafiori suffered knee collateral injury between grade one/two but final assessment will be made by Arsenal staff,” Romano posted.
While initial assessments indicate a moderate injury, Arsenal will determine the final diagnosis and recovery timeline after further medical examinations.
