Wike Will Regret Undermining PDP in the Future – Yabagi Sani

Yabagi Sani, National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has predicted that Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will eventually regret his actions that have contributed to the weakening of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an interview reported by The Independent, Sani addressed the wave of defections from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that Wike’s role in the internal crisis has had damaging consequences. He also took a swipe at recent remarks made by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who criticized the trend of political defections, especially by high-profile figures like a sitting PDP governor and a former vice presidential candidate.
Sani strongly disagreed with Saraki’s criticisms, accusing him of playing a central role in the PDP’s original decline. He reminded the public of Saraki’s involvement in forming the “new PDP” in 2013, which later merged with the APC and significantly weakened the PDP’s influence ahead of the 2015 general elections.

“In 2013, Bukola Saraki was the man behind the new PDP, which was headed by Kawu Baraje,” Sani said. He pointed out that seven governors from the PDP joined the APC during that time, undermining the party’s unity and electoral strength.
Sani also accused Saraki and others of opposing former President Goodluck Jonathan’s reelection, further deepening internal divisions. According to him, those same actors who destabilized the party in the past are now hypocritically complaining about similar actions from today’s leaders.
He didn’t hold back on his criticism of Wike, declaring, “Wike will also regret what he did to the PDP in the future, because you cannot undermine your own structure and expect to go scot-free.”

In conclusion, Sani argued that the current turmoil within the PDP is a direct consequence of the choices made by its former leaders, and those who contributed to its decline have no moral ground to criticize others now repeating similar actions.
