Video: Students Reject “Mother” Title for Remi Tinubu in Delta
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu faced an awkward moment during her visit to a nursing school in Delta State, where students refused to acknowledge her as “their mother” in a call-and-response chant.
During the event, where she distributed 10,000 medical kits to midwives, an MC led the students in a welcoming chant, singing, “Na our mama be this o,” expecting them to respond affirmatively. However, the students instead replied, “Na your mama,” rejecting the title.
A video of the incident quickly went viral, sparking widespread reactions online. Reports suggest that the student who originally posted the video was pressured into deleting it and deactivating her TikTok account, allegedly after receiving threats.
The episode has divided public opinion, with some Nigerians criticizing the students’ behavior as disrespectful, while others argue that their response reflects dissatisfaction with the current administration. Meanwhile, some political figures have called for sanctions against the school.
