Tinubu’s $20,000 Medical Fund for Military Personnel Sparks Reaction from Shehu Sani

In a move that has sparked widespread debate, President Bola Tinubu recently approved a retirement package for Nigerian military service chiefs and generals that includes a $20,000 allowance for foreign medical treatment, among other luxurious benefits.

This decision has elicited a sharp reaction from former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, known for his outspoken critique of governance issues.

Sani, taking to his social media platforms, expressed his concerns over the allocation of such significant resources to a select few while many Nigerians struggle with basic healthcare access.

He questioned the rationale behind providing such opulent retirement benefits, including bulletproof SUVs and personal staff, to military leaders when the healthcare system in Nigeria is in desperate need of reform and funding.

“While we honor our military for their service, the stark disparity between their retirement benefits and the healthcare available to the average Nigerian citizen is glaring,” Sani stated.

He called for a reevaluation of priorities, suggesting that such funds could be better utilized to improve public health infrastructure, benefiting a broader segment of the population.
