In a recent media interview, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), issued a strong rebuttal to criticisms from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member Ikenga Ugochinyere. Ugochinyere had accused Wike of attempting to undermine the PDP to further his own electoral ambitions and influencing the acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to align with his agenda.

Wike dismissed these claims with a striking analogy: “When we’re talking about fresh animals, we don’t talk about crabs,” indicating that he did not consider Ugochinyere’s comments significant enough to warrant attention. He emphasized that his experience and stature within the PDP far surpass those of Ugochinyere, suggesting that their political clout was not comparable.

Addressing the purported fallout, Wike hinted at its origins but maintained that he would not engage in disputes over issues that involve Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State. He stated, “I won’t quarrel with Hope Uzodinma over someone else’s problem,” underscoring his focus on more substantial objectives and refusing to be distracted by what he deemed minor criticisms.
