Gabriel Suswam Defends Bala Mohammed, Dismisses Allegations Of Anti-Pdp Activities

Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has come to the defense of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed over allegations that he worked against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Suswam dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that Bala Mohammed’s successful re-election under the PDP banner in 2023 is clear evidence that he did not sabotage the party.

Suswam argued that it would have been illogical for Bala to undermine the PDP in his own state while contesting under its platform, as doing so would have jeopardized his own chances at the polls.

In his words, “Bala won the election under the PDP, I doubt very much whether he worked against… He was a candidate in the elections and the danger would have been that if he worked against the PDP in Bauchi, he wouldn’t have been the governor by now because that would have affected or impacted negatively on his election.”

He pointed out that in other states where internal rifts led to party members acting against the PDP, the consequences were clear losses. “In states where PDP worked against PDP, we lost those elections, in Benue, for instance,” Suswam added.

His remarks are part of the ongoing discussion around party unity and loyalty, especially in the aftermath of the 2023 elections.
