Dele Farotimi Criticizes Plan to Protest on December 10, the Same Day Court Adjourned Case – Lere Olayinka
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to the planned protest against the continuous detention of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi.
According to a post on the official X handle of Lere Olayinka, the former Rivers Governor’s aide warned that the court may not sit anymore on the 10th of December to hear the case against Farotimi because of the protest.
He noted that the court may cite safety issues and adjourn the matter. He added that Farotimi will continue to suffer the consequences because he will be in lockup.
Lere Olayinka had written, “The court adjourned the case against Dele Farotimi till December 10. You want to protest on the same December 10. So what if because of your protest, the Court fails to sit, citing safety issues? Who will suffer the consequences? Sometimes, it makes more sense to be sensible.
