Akpabio Takes Legal Steps After Natasha Akpoti’s Satirical Apology Sparks Controversy
Abuja – May 8, 2025:
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has responded with legal action after suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan published a sarcastic apology letter targeting him on social media.
As reported by the DAILY POST on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, Akpabio has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking it to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to take down the letter from all her digital platforms.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central and is currently under a six-month suspension for violating Senate protocols, released the letter earlier this week. Although presented as an apology, the message was laced with satire, subtle jabs, and humor directed at the Senate leadership, drawing widespread attention online.
In reaction, Akpabio viewed the letter as defamatory and inappropriate, and has now turned to the judiciary to seek redress. His legal filing claims the post harms his reputation and calls for its immediate removal.
This legal clash adds another layer to the growing tension within the Senate, where disagreements between top leadership and outspoken lawmakers have continued to play out publicly. The court case is likely to fuel ongoing debates about freedom of speech, digital conduct, and internal legislative conflict.
