RCCG Pastor Detained Overseas for Using ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ in Greeting – Pastor Adeboye
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed concern over the arrest of one of the church’s pastors overseas for greeting an audience with “Ladies and gentlemen.”
Adeboye explained during the RCCG’s monthly thanksgiving service in Lagos State that the phrase was deemed discriminatory because it failed to include other gender identities recognized in the host country’s culture.
“Things are worsening, and the end is nearer than we think,” Adeboye warned, describing the incident as a wake-up call. He added, “The pastor was reported for discrimination by those who questioned, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’”
In his sermon titled “My Father’s House,” Adeboye also recounted another alarming anecdote of a woman claiming her dog was her husband, underscoring his concern about declining moral values globally.
Adeboye urged Christians to remain steadfast, highlighting these events as signs of the end times. He warned against complacency in faith and called for genuine commitment to God.
The clergyman also reiterated his stand against certain fashion trends among RCCG church workers, such as braided hair for men and excessive makeup for women, emphasizing that these styles are no longer welcome on the church’s altars.
Adeboye made these remarks following his address at the church’s 72nd annual convention, themed “Heaven,” held in August 2024 at The Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State.
