Pastor Bakare: “Tinubu Is President—Like It or Not, Just Pray for Him”
Pastor Tunde Bakare has called on Nigerians to accept the fact that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the sitting president and urged them to shift their focus from criticism to prayer. In a recent sermon, Bakare emphasized the importance of addressing national matters objectively, rather than engaging in personal attacks.
“Whether you like it or not, Tinubu is the president of Nigeria today. Until he finishes, until his term is over, you can only pray for him to do right by Nigeria,” he said.
Bakare reflected on a message he delivered in 2022, where he warned political figures, particularly from the South-West, to reflect on their actions. He said, “You remember in 2022, I preached a message here: an idle man’s brain is a devil’s workshop. I gave you the version of that proverb by Turkish people—that the devil, Satan, tempts every man, but an idle man tempts Satan.”
Continuing, he said, “I began to tell our leaders, especially in Yorubaland, to back off. Tinubu has no father. Tinubu has no mother. Tinubu has no degree. Tinubu is fraudless. Tinubu is corrupt. You are all looking at yourself. They rose up against me that day, and you know some concluded Tinubu must have given him money.”
Bakare clarified that his messages are rooted in principles, not influenced by personal interests or political favors. “Be careful, because I deal with issues, not persons,” he explained. “I’ve stood here, I’ve sat here, and I’ve said whatever I think towards him—may God do so to me seven times over.”
His message was clear: regardless of political opinions, Nigerians should prioritize unity and pray for their leaders to succeed for the benefit of the entire nation.
