Nigeria Police Suspend AIG Abduyari Lafia Over Allegations, Stop Salary
The Nigeria Police Force has suspended Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Abduyari Shuaya’u Lafia from duty, effective January 9, 2025. A wireless message addressed to all departments, units, and commands, signed by the Force Secretary, directed Lafia to comply with regulations governing the conduct of suspended officers.
This action precedes a review of his case by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC).
The suspension followed a decision by the Police Service Commission (POLSCOM), communicated in a letter dated January 9, 2025. Citing PSR 100406 (2021, as amended), POLSCOM approved Lafia’s suspension, effective immediately.
Additionally, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Budget and Payment has been instructed to cease Lafia’s salary payments without delay.
A directive dated January 10, 2025, with reference number AP:41804/FS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.IV/3, stated in part:
