Kwara State Faces Rising Threats from Fulani Kidnappers
Residents of the Obbo Ile, Isapa, and Osi communities in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State are reportedly facing severe threats from suspected Fulani kidnappers. According to local accounts, armed individuals have been invading these communities every couple of days, armed with AK-47 rifles, and kidnapping innocent residents.
Local hunters and vigilantes have taken it upon themselves to confront these attackers due to a lack of adequate support from state security forces. The community head of Obbo Ile has urgently appealed to the Kwara State government for intervention.
He has reported that the fear of kidnappings has driven farmers away from their fields and caused market vendors to flee the area.
Many residents are concerned about the safety of their land, as some tenants have reportedly taken control of properties, further complicating the situation for local farmers and businesses.
