JUST IN: Fire Destroys Shops at Damaturu Market
An early morning fire erupted at the renowned “Bayan Tasha” market in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, causing significant damage.
The blaze, which ignited in the early hours of Tuesday, led to the destruction of properties valued at millions of naira, including numerous shops, kiosks, and various business premises.
The fire was eventually brought under control thanks to the prompt intervention of the state fire service, preventing it from spreading to surrounding residential areas.
A spokesperson from the Yobe State Fire Service confirmed that the emergency response was initiated following a distress call, allowing the firefighters to contain the fire before it caused further destruction.
