Nigerian singer Tems has made history as the first African female artist to achieve 1 billion streams on Spotify, setting a new milestone in the global music industry.
Record-Breaking Achievement
Tems reached this remarkable feat with her collaboration on Wait For U, a joint single with Future and Drake. The track, which samples her 2020 song Higher from the EP For Broken Ears, has now surpassed 1 billion streams on the platform.

Chart Success and Grammy Wins
Upon its release in 2022, Wait For U debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the first time an African artist achieved this milestone. The song also earned two Grammy nominations and won the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
