Speed Darlington Released from Kuje Prison Following Court Bail
Controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, has been released from Kuje Prison after weeks in detention.
Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed the release via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Speed Darlington is out of Kuje Prison.” The release follows an Abuja court granting him bail and mounting pressure on the Nigeria Police Force to either charge him or comply with a court order for his freedom.
Darlington had earlier petitioned Deputy Inspector-General of Police Dasuki Galadanchi, demanding adherence to Justice M.S. Liman’s directive to charge him within 48 hours or release him unconditionally. His arrest was linked to controversial allegations he made against Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, accusing him of an inappropriate relationship with U.S. rapper and music mogul Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.
