Femi Branch Reveals Spiritual Ordeal That Led to His Exit from Yoruba Movie Industry

Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Branch has opened up about a deeply traumatic chapter in his career that pushed him away from the Yoruba movie industry. During a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actor recounted how a life-altering accident on a film set and a series of spiritual warnings forced him to reconsider his path.
Branch, who is also trained in martial arts, shared that he sustained serious injuries while performing a stunt during the filming of his first Yoruba movie. The accident resulted in both legs being broken, with nine bones fractured in total—an injury that left him unable to walk for two years.
“Something happened when I was shooting my first movie. It was a Yoruba movie,” he recalled. “On the second night, I had rehearsed my part, but because it involved a lot of stunts and I’m already used to it because I’m a martial arts student. So when we were shooting, I tried performing a stunt, but it failed. When I landed, I broke my bones in both legs.”
Branch didn’t chalk the experience up to just a physical mishap. He believes it had spiritual roots. “I would say the incident was spiritual because a pastor called me from Abuja and told me that he saw a revelation about me,” he explained. “He said I want to do a job, but I shouldn’t make it loud and shouldn’t tell anyone about the job. That time, I was already planning on the movie shoot, but I didn’t take the message seriously because I thought it wasn’t related to my job.”
Surprisingly, another friend contacted him with a similar warning from a different pastor. “Also, another friend of mine called me, that his pastor told him the same thing. That they just started the spiritual attacks and that if I don’t leave, more attacks are coming,” he added.
Following his recovery, Branch endured a near-fatal car accident, which further solidified his belief in the spiritual nature of these events. Feeling that his involvement in Yoruba Nollywood might expose him to more harm, he ultimately decided to step away.
“The spiritual attacks made me leave the Yoruba Nollywood movie industry,” he concluded. “I’ve never said this anywhere before.”
