Court Halts EFCC’s Case Against Eezee Tee Over Administrative Procedure
A Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Alexander Owoeye, has halted the arraignment of Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as Eezee Tee, in a case brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The decision was based on an ongoing ‘administrative procedure’ related to the case.
The EFCC had filed a four-count charge against Onyedikachi, alleging fraudulent conversion. During the hearing on Thursday, senior legal practitioners Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, and Dr. Monday Ubani, SAN, appeared for the defendant, while Bilikisu Buhari represented the EFCC.
Unlike the previous court session where he was absent, Onyedikachi was present in court for this hearing. However, Justice Owoeye informed both parties that an administrative process was currently in progress concerning the case, preventing him from making any pronouncements.
“There is an administrative procedure going on in this case, and until it is completed, I cannot make any pronouncement on it,” the judge stated.
He also declined a request by Onyedikachi’s counsel for the court to order all parties to maintain the status quo until the administrative process is concluded.
The case has been adjourned until May 14.
