Wike’s Former Aide Cautions Fubara Over Support from Obidients and Atikulates

Lere Olayinka, former media aide to ex-Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has warned Governor Siminalayi Fubara to be cautious of the growing support he is receiving from opposition groups amid his political rift with the state House of Assembly.
In a social media post, Olayinka urged Fubara to be wary when supporters of Peter Obi (Obidients) and Atiku Abubakar (Atikulates) rally behind him, stating, “Always be mindful when Obidients and Atikulates are the ones hailing you.”
His warning comes as political tensions in Rivers State continue to escalate, with Fubara at odds with lawmakers believed to be loyal to Wike. The crisis has led to shifting political allegiances, as some groups now back the governor’s defiance against the Assembly, while others question his long-term strategy.
Olayinka also criticized social media commentators for what he described as inconsistent loyalties. He noted that those who once praised Fubara for defying the law are now applauding him for complying with legal procedures. “The same juveniles on social media who praised him for defying the law and referring to the members of the Assembly as a ‘Committee of Friends’ are now praising him for being law-abiding,” he remarked.

With tensions still high, Olayinka’s statement reflects concerns within Wike’s political camp about Fubara’s evolving alliances. While the governor appears to be gaining broader support, the former aide’s caution suggests that such backing may be fleeting or driven by political convenience.
