Senator Nwebonyi Defends Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Suspension, Dismisses Harassment Claims
Senator Peter Nwebonyi has justified the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, arguing that the punishment was necessary due to the severity of her alleged misconduct.
In an exclusive interview with TVC News, Nwebonyi claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan was using allegations of sexual harassment against a fellow lawmaker to manipulate public sentiment and divert attention from the real issue.
“The six-month suspension given to Senator Natasha was because of the severity of the offence. I hope you watched the video where she was pointing accusing fingers at the Senate President. At the level of being a senator, there are things you should not do, no matter what,” Nwebonyi stated.
Addressing the harassment claims, he asserted that the matter was already before a committee and that Akpoti-Uduaghan was merely using it to gain sympathy.
“She is using the harassment issue to divert attention. The issue of alleged sexual harassment is before a committee, and when the report is to be led, another person will preside. Her usual claim of sexual harassment is just to win public sentiment, which she is succeeding at, but unfortunately, she has failed because people have seen the truth,” he added.
