Goodluck Jonathan Explains Why He Called Siminalayi Fubara the “General” of Rivers Politics
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed confidence in Governor Siminalayi Fubara, calling him the future “General” of Rivers politics. Speaking at a chieftaincy installation ceremony in Etche Local Government Area, Jonathan encouraged the people of Rivers State to continue supporting their governor, emphasizing the importance of peace for the state’s progress.
Jonathan acknowledged the challenges Governor Fubara is facing, remarking that this is his first time holding such a prominent political position.
He assured Fubara that these struggles were part of the journey to becoming a political leader, stating, “Nobody becomes a General without fighting wars.”
According to Daily Post, he encouraged the governor to remain, committed, confident that with the support of the people, Fubara would overcome these difficulties with divine assistance.
Furthermore, Jonathan stressed the importance of maintaining peace in Rivers State, warning that any instability in the state could negatively affect the entire Niger Delta region and, by extension, the national economy.
He urged the governor to stay focused and calm in his leadership.
In response, Governor Fubara thanked Jonathan for his unwavering support during challenging times, acknowledging the former president’s guidance and encouragement throughout his administration.
Jonathan’s remarks reinforced the notion that peace and unity in Rivers State are crucial for both local and national development.
