Abba Moro Recalls Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Defiance in Senate Seating Dispute

Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro has provided insights into the recent clash between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seating arrangement directive. The confrontation, which has drawn public attention, unfolded when Natasha refused to comply with an order to vacate her seat.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Moro recounted how he attempted to mediate the dispute but was met with resistance. As Minority Leader, his responsibility includes maintaining harmony among senators, irrespective of party differences. In an effort to defuse the situation, he first approached Senate President Akpabio, who insisted that he had the authority to assign seats in the chamber, per Senate regulations.
Realizing the Senate President’s firm stance, Moro then turned to Natasha, urging her to temporarily comply so the issue could be addressed later. However, she stood her ground and refused to move, delivering a bold message:
“Go back to whoever sent you and tell them I won’t leave my seat.”
Moro admitted that her defiant response left him with no choice but to step back, acknowledging that his efforts to mediate had failed. He eventually returned to his seat, frustrated but accepting the situation.
This incident underscores the challenges of managing strong-willed lawmakers and maintaining order in the Senate. While it may seem like a minor dispute, it highlights the complexities of leadership within the legislative body.
