Peter Obi Visits Victims of Suleja Tanker Explosion
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, visited Niger State today to console the victims and families affected by the recent petrol tanker explosion along the Dikko-Maje Road in Suleja.
The tragic incident, which resulted in over 100 fatalities, left more than 50 people injured and caused extensive property damage.
During his visit, Obi toured the explosion site, the graveyard where 80 victims were laid to rest, and the Sarkin Dikko palace. He also visited the hospital, offering support and words of encouragement to the injured.
Expressing deep sorrow over the disaster, Obi called for immediate action to improve safety standards. He emphasized the importance of repairing roads, increasing awareness among tanker operators, investing in healthcare infrastructure, and implementing poverty alleviation programs.
“These recurring disasters highlight the urgent need for governance to prioritize human lives through proactive policies,” Obi stated.
He extended his condolences to Sarkin Dikko and the entire Dikko community while assuring the affected families of his solidarity.
“Human lives are invaluable, and governance must prioritize their protection through proactive policies,” Obi emphasized.
“Together, we can ensure such tragedies become a thing of the past. Together, we can build a safer future,” he concluded.
