Man’s Car Stolen After Forgetting Key Inside, Police Recover Vehicle and Arrest Suspect

The Jigawa State Police Command has reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a suspect after a man mistakenly left his car key inside overnight.
According to the police statement shared on Saturday, February 22, 2025, the incident occurred in Aujara village, Jahun Local Government Area. The victim, Abdurrahman Sadiq, a staff member of the Nigeria Institute of Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), parked his Mazda 323 in his compound but forgot the key inside.
By morning, he discovered that the vehicle was missing and promptly reported the theft to the Dutse Divisional Headquarters.
Acting on the report, detectives from the division and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) launched an investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of the suspect, Alhassan Isa of Shuwarin town in Kiyawa Local Government, and the successful recovery of the stolen vehicle.


Further investigation revealed that Isa, an ex-convict, has a history of motorcycle and tricycle theft and is already facing multiple charges for similar crimes. He has reportedly provided useful information to law enforcement and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
