Dr. Daniel Olukoya Cautions Christians Against Careless Food Purchases

Dr. Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has issued a stern warning to Christians about the spiritual dangers of buying food carelessly, especially from questionable sources. In a recent sermon, he urged believers to be discerning and vigilant in their choices, particularly when it comes to food vendors.
“Are you one of those who buy food carelessly around and eat it?” Dr. Olukoya asked, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discernment.
He criticized the tendency of some Christians to purchase food from vendors who exhibit signs of spiritual compromise, such as wearing dreadlocks, heavy occultic chains, or displaying disinterest in prayer. “It is sad,” he remarked, “that believers hand over their money to such individuals without considering the spiritual implications.”
Highlighting the importance of fasting, Dr. Olukoya stated that it subdues the flesh and makes it unattractive to the devil. “Another way for demons to hate you is by prayer and fasting,” he said, encouraging Christians to prioritize spiritual discipline over physical cravings.
He further expressed concern about the rush to buy food on Sunday mornings, questioning whether such individuals had taken time to pray and fast. “The way people rush on Sunday mornings to buy food, you wonder if they pray and fast,” he observed.
He advised believers to endure fasting during Sunday services and prepare meals at home afterward. “Service ends at 12 midday on Sundays, so you cannot fast and pray, then go home to cook and eat? May the Lord have mercy,” he admonished.
Dr. Olukoya then called for spiritual alertness, urging Christians to recognize the connection between their physical actions and spiritual well-being while fostering a disciplined lifestyle through prayer and fasting.
