“I Will Remain a Challenge for Atiku, Peter Obi, and PDP Governors — Nyesom Wike”
In a bold statement, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asserted that he will continue to be a “problem” for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike made these remarks during a luncheon held in Port Harcourt to honor the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State, further escalating tensions with the opposition.Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, rejected claims from Atiku’s camp suggesting that he regrets supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
“Let me clarify this: I have no regrets at all about backing President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. We stand by our decision,” Wike asserted. He emphasized that he plans to remain a significant challenge for Atiku’s faction, Peter Obi’s supporters, and certain PDP governors, declaring, “I will continue to be a problem for them.”
Wike also explained his opposition to Atiku’s presidential ambitions, arguing that his stance is rooted in the principles of “equity, fairness, and justice.” His comments underscore the persistent animosity between these two political figures, particularly following Atiku’s defeat in the 2023 election, where Wike’s group played a key role in opposing him.
