Eselemo Slams Oborevwori’s Infrastructure Projects, Labels Them Costly and Misplaced
Collins Eselemo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has openly criticized Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s infrastructure projects, describing them as extravagant and unnecessary.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Friday, Eselemo questioned the practicality and relevance of the ongoing infrastructural efforts. He particularly pointed out the construction of three flyover bridges within a short distance of 400 meters, which he claims are costing the state over N100 billion.
“What is the infrastructural development in Delta State, if I may ask? He built three fly overhead bridges in a space of 400 meters and is spending over 100bn on that issue. I blame the Attorney-General of Delta State for him to have embarked on that project,” he said.
Eselemo argued that the money could have been better spent addressing more pressing developmental needs across the state. He also accused the state government of erecting the structures on land owned by the Federal Government, calling the foundation of the project “illegal.”
“The projects and the infrastructural developments is on an illegal foundation. What I mean by illegal foundation is that the property on which those infrastructures are built belong to the Federal Government. It was acquired by Obasanjo in 1978-79 before the land use degree,” he explained.
Eselemo expressed disappointment in the state’s legal advisers for allowing the project to proceed and maintained that the efforts, though visually appealing, fail to meet the actual needs of Delta State residents.
