Osabuohien Osaretin aka Sarz
Osabuohien Osaretin, professionally known as Sarz, is a Nigerian record producer, songwriter, and sound engineer born on March 27, 1989, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative producers in modern Afrobeats.
Sarz began producing music professionally in the late 2000s and gained early recognition for his work with Lord of Ajasa. He rose to mainstream prominence after producing hit records such as Jor Oh by Jor Oh (with Jah Bless), Beat of Life by Wizkid, and Good Loving by Seyi Shay. His signature soundโclean percussion, hard drums, and experimental rhythmsโquickly set him apart.
Over the years, Sarz has worked with some of Africaโs biggest artists including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Wande Coal, 2Baba, Niniola, Falz, Runtown, and Asake. He is also known for pushing creative boundaries through genre-blending and live electronic performances.
In 2019, Sarz launched his conceptual project Sarz Is Not Your Mate (SINYM), combining music, fashion, and live experiences. He later released SINYM 2 (2021), featuring a more global and experimental soundscape, and followed up with Memories That Last (2023), further showcasing his evolution as a producer and creative director.
Sarz remains a defining force in Afrobeats, respected for consistency, sonic innovation, and his role in shaping the sound of contemporary African music.
