Shehu Sani Mocks Nigerian Government for Claiming to Lift 25 Million from Poverty with N25,000
Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has ridiculed Finance Minister Wale Edun regarding the Federal Government’s empowerment initiative.Sani suggested that Edun believes he can lift 25 million Nigerians out of poverty by providing just N25,000 each.Edun had announced that the social investment program has expanded its benefits to 25 million vulnerable Nigerians, up from five million households.
The program includes direct cash transfers to individuals listed in the social register, verified through biometric identification, and payments are made via bank accounts or mobile wallets.While speaking to State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Edun confirmed that the first and second payments have already been disbursed to beneficiaries.
He stated, “Those payments have been rolled out. We’ve reached five million households, benefiting 25 million Nigerians, and the first and second payments are being processed.”In response, Sani took to X to mock the initiative, saying, “N25k for 25 million people. Minister Edun has lifted 25 million people out of poverty; they have now arrived at the Airport of prosperity. Kudos.”
