Inibehe Effiong: Tinubu Administration Seeks Investment While Subjecting Minors to Court Proceedings
Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for expecting global respect and investment while simultaneously presenting minors in court. Effiong expressed on his X account that the government is undermining the integrity of Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
He pointed out the contradiction of seeking international credibility while subjecting minors, accused of protesting, to degrading treatment in court.
His remarks come in response to the backlash surrounding the court appearance of several minors involved in the recent EndBadGovernance protests. Reports indicate that one of the minors even collapsed before the trial began.
