Speaker: On Thursday, Datti met LP lawmakers-elect, told them the person they should support- Source
It was reported that Mr Peter Obi’s running mate, in the February 25th, 2023 presidential election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, met with Labour Party lawmakers in Abuja on Friday, as he told them the candidate they should support for the position of the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Information that was given by a source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity made it known that, Baba-Ahmed made futile efforts to persuade the Labour Party members to endorse his candidate.
The source said, “On Thursday, Datti met LP lawmakers-elect, told them the person they should support for the position of the Speaker. He endorsed Hon. Muktar Betara for the contest for the speakership of the 10th Assembly but, it was futile.”
It was reported that LEADERSHIP correspondent, gathered that the failure of Datti Baba-Ahmed to secure the endorsement of the lawmakers, informed a follow-up meeting that is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) with Peter Obi.
It was made known that the organisers of Monday’s meeting, according to a reliable source, are working on the permutation that, Peter Obi would be able to persuade these lawmakers to toe the party line.
The source said, “The invitation urged the opposition lawmakers to attend and submit their list for security clearance.”
