Empress Njamah Declines Public Marriage Proposal, Cites Value of Friendship (VIDEO)

Nollywood actress Empress Njamah has turned down a surprise marriage proposal from a longtime male friend, a moment that has since gone viral after she shared the video on her Instagram page.

In the video, the man, whom Njamah referred to as the “King of Abuja,” knelt before her and proposed, saying:
“I prayed to God and He answered me and brought you my way. Will you marry me?”

While visibly emotional, Njamah respectfully declined the proposal, expressing gratitude for the gesture but clarifying her stance.
“I am so emotional right now, but I have to speak. You actually omitted the fact that you threw this in front of your friends and family. I respect them so much, and I am overwhelmed. I didn’t expect that it would happen so soon. Coming from the King of Abuja, for you to go on your knees, to do this for me… and at the end of the day, I said I am not interested.”

In her Instagram caption, she added:
“AND I SAID NOOOOO. SAID NO TO MY GEE. GEE NO DEY MARRY GEE, BETTER FRIENDS THAN LOVERS.”

Njamah, who has publicly addressed pressures surrounding marriage in the past, has emphasized her preference for maintaining strong friendships over romantic relationships.

In 2022, she was involved in a high-profile scandal involving her ex-partner, Liberian national Josh Wade, whom she accused of blackmail and theft. Wade was later arrested in 2023 following allegations of leaking private photos and stealing valuables.

Njamah was also previously linked to musician Timaya. Their breakup in 2009 drew media attention, though both later reconciled.
