ADC Chieftain Alleges Political Motive in EFCC Invitations to Ihedioha, Tambuwal
Ladan Salihu, a leader within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, has questioned the timing of recent Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invitations issued to former governors Emeka Ihedioha of Imo Stat and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust TV, Salihu noted that Ihedioha, an ADC member, served as governor for only seven months, yet was invited for questioning seven years after leaving office. He pointed out that the invitation came on the same day the EFCC also summoned Tambuwal, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Salihu acknowledged the EFCC’s mandate to investigate and arrest individuals suspected of financial crimes but cautioned against actions that could be perceived as targeting opposition figures.
“A member of the ADC, also a high-profile politician from Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, was invited. Nigerians will ask — someone who has been a governor for seven months, it took seven years for him to be invited on the same day that Tambuwal was equally invited,” Salihu said.
