Zinoleesky Reveals He Ran Away from Home to Pursue Music Career
Nigerian Afrobeats artist Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky, has shared details about his early struggles in pursuing a music career, including running away from home due to family opposition.
Speaking in a recent interview on SB Live, Zinoleesky recounted the resistance he faced from his parents, who did not support his decision to enter the entertainment industry.
“Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you want to do stuff like music,” he said. “They want you to do a professional course or learn a trade. So, you just have to find a way. Me, I did some crazy stuffs. I ran away from home to do music.”
Zinoleesky began his career as a rapper before transitioning to singing. He gained attention in 2017 through viral freestyle videos on social media. Although early reports suggested he turned down a deal from Davido’s DMW label, he eventually signed with Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, in December 2019.
His debut EP, Chrome Eccentric, was released in 2020 and featured hit tracks such as Ma Pariwo and Kilofeshe, which helped establish his presence in the Nigerian music scene.
