Pastor Kumuyi Criticizes Bible Readers Who Fail to Apply Its Teachings
Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has expressed concerns about believers who read the Bible extensively but fail to apply its teachings in their daily lives.
During a recent sermon, he emphasized that faith is not just about reading or hearing God’s Word but about internalizing and living it.
“Some people read the Bible from cover to cover but do not apply what they read,” Pastor Kumuyi stated. He stressed the importance of making God’s promises personal. “Christ died for the world! Yes, but for me!” he declared, urging believers to truly accept Jesus’ sacrifice for themselves.
Referencing the Old Testament, he highlighted the principle of atonement through blood, quoting Exodus: “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” He explained that this divine protection dates back to Adam and Eve, when God provided them a covering through the sacrifice of an animal after their sin.
In the New Testament, he pointed to John the Baptist’s proclamation: “Behold! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Pastor Kumuyi explained that Jesus Christ fulfilled this Old Testament symbol, and only through His blood can sins be forgiven.
He concluded by urging believers to move beyond passive reading and embrace active faith. “When you accept that tonight, when you believe that tonight, all your sins are forgiven, all your sins are taken away,” he assured, calling on his listeners to live out the Word and experience true freedom in Christ.
