Five motorcyclists arrested in connection with the death of senior police officer in Lagos.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.Hundeyin stated that the suspects allegedly assaulted a police patrol team that had been dispatched on a rescue operation.
He explained that the police received an emergency call at around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, reporting that a motorcyclist had collided with a trailer at WEMCO Junction, along Mobile Road in the PEN Cinema area of Agege, resulting in the motorcyclist’s immediate death.
According to the command’s spokesperson, upon receiving this report, a patrol unit was sent to the location.“When the team arrived, they encountered a large crowd of commercial motorcyclists at the scene.”He said that while the police were in the process of removing the trailer from the area, the motorcyclists became hostile and attempted to set the truck on fire.
“During the confrontation, a 46-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) sustained a fatal head injury and died on the spot, while the truck driver managed to escape.”The bodies were transported to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy.
“At the moment, five suspects have been taken into custody, and efforts are underway to apprehend the other individuals involved,” Hundeyin added.
