Alonso provides update on Boniface’s condition after difficult Libya experience.

Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, has given an update on the condition of striker Victor Boniface following the player’s difficult experience in Libya.Boniface, along with other members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, faced mistreatment by Libyan authorities just before their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The incident occurred ahead of their matchday four fixture against Libya, with reports emerging a few days ago.The 23-year-old striker shared his experience on social media platform X, where he described the harsh treatment they endured before being forced to return to Nigeria.
In a press conference before Bayer Leverkusen’s upcoming Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt, Alonso acknowledged the unpleasant nature of Boniface’s ordeal. He added that despite the difficult experience, Boniface has been back in training and is preparing for this weekend’s match.“We have spoken,” Alonso told Frankfurter Allgemeine. “What happened was unpleasant, but Boniface has had enough time to get back into training.”
