Ikenga Ugochinyere Claims Wike’s Betrayal of PDP Was Enabled by the National Chairman’s Loyalty to Him
In a recent interview with Arise News, Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), voiced his concerns regarding the conduct of the party’s Acting National Chairman and Secretary.
He accused these leaders of being politically Compromised, suggesting they function more as personal assistants to Nyesom Wike, the current Federal Capital Territory Minister, who is now affiliated with the ruling APC government.
Ugochinyere pointed out the persistent internal struggles within the PDP, indicating that Wike’s betrayal of the party over the past year was made possible by the compromised leadership.
He claimed that these officials, especially the Acting National Chairman, were taking orders from Wike, effectively advancing the interests of the APC while still holding positions in the PDP.
To illustrate his point, Ugochinyere cited a specific incident where the Acting Chairman ignored a court order prohibiting the Rivers State Congress. Instead of adhering to the legal directive, the congress proceeded, allowing Wike’s supporters to gain control of the party’s structures in Rivers State.
Ugochinyere emphasized that these individuals have already committed to supporting the APC’s plans for the 2027 elections, stating that the actions of the National Chairman have essentially enabled Wike and his allies to dominate the internal workings of the PDP in the state.
He remarked, “The betrayal that the FCT Minister has been executing against the party for the past year was made possible by the politically compromised Acting National Chairman, Secretary, and a few others.
They essentially act as aides to the Minister, who is operating within the APC government, taking direct instructions from him.
For instance, despite a court order preventing a State Congress in Rivers, the Acting Chairman proceeded with it, which allowed Wike’s supporters to take over the party’s structures.
These individuals are already aligned with the APC’s agenda for victory in the 2027 elections.”
