Michael Adebayo Olayinka, known professionally as Ruger, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter born on September 23, 1999, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2020.
Ruger gained recognition with his debut EP Pandemic, which featured the breakout hit Bounce. His signature eye patch, confident lyrics, and dancehall-inspired Afro-fusion style set him apart in the Afrobeats scene.
He followed up with the The Second Wave EP, delivering hits like Dior, Snapchat, and Girlfriend. In 2023, he dropped his debut album RU The World, which showcased his lyrical growth and sonic range.
Ruger is known for his edgy persona, sultry voice, and genre-bending sound, blending Afrobeats with reggae, trap, and dancehall influences.
