Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele, known professionally as Oritse Femi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer. He was born on January 5, 1985, in Ajegunle, Lagos State, though originally from Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.
Oritse Femi began his music career in the early 2000s and first gained recognition with his remake of Fela Kuti’s classic Double Wahala, which became a nationwide hit. The song earned him widespread acclaim for reviving Afrobeat influences while infusing contemporary street pop energy.
His breakthrough in the mainstream came with the release of Double Wahala and Mercies of the Lord, establishing him as one of Nigeria’s leading street-hop voices. Known for his distinctive voice and socially conscious lyrics, Oritse Femi has continued to deliver music that blends Afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall elements.
