Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, is a Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer born on July 2, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He studied Media Technology at the University of Sussex, UK, and later Media Communications at Oxford Brookes University.
Burna Boy emerged in 2012 with his debut album L.I.F.E, but rose to international prominence with his 2018 project Outside. His 2019 album African Giant was nominated for a Grammy, and his 2020 album Twice As Tall won Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards.
He is credited with pioneering the Afro-fusion sound β blending Afrobeats, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop. His global hits include Ye, Anybody, Gbona, Last Last, and City Boys.
He is regarded as one of Africaβs most successful and influential artists of all time.
