MNU 1-1 ARS: Four Players Who Cost Man United Points in Arsenal Draw
Manchester United delivered a determined performance but ultimately settled for a 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes put United ahead with a stunning free-kick just before halftime, reminding fans of his captaincy influence. However, despite having chances to extend their lead, including Noussair Mazraoui’s powerful volley and Joshua Zirkzee’s clever backheel, Arsenal’s pressure paid off as Declan Rice netted the equalizer.
In the final moments, United had one last chance to snatch victory, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya stood firm to deny Fernandes.
Here are four players who contributed to United’s dropped points:
1. Victor Lindelöf
The defender struggled with his passing, frequently giving the ball away under pressure. Though he made some crucial clearances, his overall performance was shaky.
2. Diogo Dalot
Dalot had an inconsistent evening, nearly getting caught out in a defensive error. While his passing lacked precision, he did deliver a good cross that created Mazraoui’s opportunity.
3. Christian Eriksen
The experienced midfielder failed to influence the game, offering little creativity. His lack of pace was evident, and he struggled to break through Arsenal’s defense with his usually sharp passing.
4. Rasmus Højlund
Højlund’s indecisiveness in front of goal proved costly. After a brilliant setup by Casemiro, he hesitated too long, allowing Arsenal’s defense to recover and block his shot.
Manchester United showed fight but couldn’t hold on, leaving them with just a point from the clash.
