Tochi Explains Why Nigerian Artists Lost at the Grammys

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tochukwu Okechukwu, commonly known as Tochi, has criticized Nigerian women for the absence of Nigerian artists from the winners’ list at the recently concluded 66th Grammy Awards.
Tochi suggested that South African musician Tyla’s Grammy win over Nigerian artists was influenced by Nigerian women.
He made these remarks on his X page, attributing the victory to Nigerian girls’ enthusiastic support for the song.
He wrote: “Na Nigerian girls follow cause this thing, anytime you open social media every time “make we waterrrrrrrr.”
The 2023 hit, Water was top of the charts across 16 countries including the United Kingdom and the United States.
Best African Music Performance is one of three brand new categories debuting at the 2024 Grammy Awards, along with Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording. Kylie Minogue won the latter award.
