Peter Rufai’s Daughter Pays Tribute to Late Father

The daughter of late Nigerian football legend Peter Rufai has shared a heartfelt reflection on his life and legacy, describing him as both strict and loving. Her remarks were featured in a video reported by Punch News on its Instagram handle, @punchnewspapers.
Rufai, popularly known as “Dodo Mayana,” was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper in the 1990s. He represented the Super Eagles at two FIFA World Cups (1994 and 1998) and played a pivotal role in the team’s 1994 African Cup of Nations triumph. His club career spanned Nigeria, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal.

In the video, his daughter spoke about his parenting style, noting that while he upheld high standards and discipline, he also showed deep affection and care.
Rufai remains celebrated as one of Nigeria’s greatest goalkeepers. Beyond his sporting achievements, the tribute highlighted his role as a family man whose guidance and values continue to resonate with his loved ones.
