Super Eagles Climb to 43rd in FIFA Rankings, Drop in African Standings
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed one spot in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, moving from 44th to 43rd place in the world. The rankings, released on Thursday, April 3, mark the first update from FIFA in 2025.
Despite this global improvement, the Super Eagles have dropped one place in Africa, falling out of the top five on the continent. The highest-ranked African teams are now Morocco’s Atlas Lions, Senegal’s Teranga Lions, Egypt’s Pharaohs, Algeria’s Desert Foxes, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Elephants.
In their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria played two matches last month. They secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali but were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Meanwhile, Argentina has strengthened its position at the top of the rankings after securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
