Federal Government Steps Up Efforts to Extradite Simon Ekpa

The Nigerian government has completed most of the necessary steps for the extradition of Simon Ekpa to Nigeria.
This was revealed by Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, during a year-end review programme on Channels Television, as reported by Daily Trust.
While Musa chose not to go into further details, he expressed optimism that the Finnish authorities would take appropriate action to move the process forward.
“Legal action will proceed accordingly,” he stated. “I don’t want to elaborate further, but I’m glad he’s been arrested. The Federal Government has already submitted most of the necessary documents to the Finnish government, so I trust the proper steps will be taken.”
Ekpa, the leader of the militant faction of the secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been under scrutiny by the Nigerian government for his role in escalating violence against security personnel in the South East.
Following increased pressure, Finnish law enforcement arrested Ekpa on November 21.
